THE chief executive of a charity which supports Islanders with drug and alcohol addiction is to step down after 13 years.
Jason Wyse will leave his role at the Silkworth Charity Group and a new chief executive is lined up to replace him later this summer.
Sharon Betts, currently community engagement officer with Brighter Futures, will join Silkworth in September.
Silkworth Lodge was founded in 2002 and has provided residential rehabilitation for Islanders who have been affected by addiction, providing bespoke treatment to help with recovery.
Ms Betts, who has experience in ‘third-sector’ roles in the UK, Asia and Jersey, said: ‘I look forward to working in partnership with the charitable and private sector, people and organisations, who share a passion for addressing and responding to the significant difficulties and challenges we face as a society.
‘Jersey is blessed to have such a strong charitable, volunteer contribution.
‘My experience at Brighter Futures has been tremendously rewarding, and I remain fully behind their mission to help and guide families in Jersey facing difficult times.’
Mr Wyse, who joined Silkworth in 2009, will retain an advisory role with the organisation and serve as registered manager.
He said: ‘Being involved with Silkworth has been more than just a job to me.
‘It has evolved into a passion where being able to give individuals and their families an opportunity of recovery and raising the profile of Silkworth and addiction has formed a big part of my life.’
